Surfing's Triple Crown Tradition |
Beginning in South Africa in January, competitions among the world's top professional male surfers are held
throughout the year in venues around the world. These culminate in December with Hawaii's "Triple Crown", an
integrated set of three events sponsored by the ASP (Association of Surfing Professionals): the "Hawaiian Pro",
"World Cup" and "Pipeline Masters". The 12th and final competition on the world tour, the Triple Crown is held
under the finest conditions, usually featuring the largest waves of the yaer. It has earned the reputation as
the world's top competition based on the high caliber of its participants, the immense amount of media attention
it attracts and its unparalleled fame.
